Beginner's Guide: Master Your First Levels — icy purple head

One button. One block. One slippery superpower. Here's everything you need to go from your first belly-slide to clearing levels like a pro.

The one rule that matters

Icy Purple Head is built on a single, beautiful idea: hold to become ice, release to become solid. Ice has zero friction — slopes turn into slides, momentum never fades, and gaps become jumps. Solid purple grips the ground almost instantly. Every level in the game is a puzzle about when to be slippery and when to hold on.

Read the level before you slide

Take two seconds before you move. Where is the exit? Where are the spikes? Is there a slope that gives free speed? The first levels hand you a big ramp and a clear runway — freeze at the top, ride the slope, and let physics do the work. If you overshoot, remember that releasing acts like a brake pedal.

Speed is a resource

Think of speed like coins in a runner game. Slopes pay you speed; flats spend it slowly; uphill sections spend it fast. If a jump looks long, you need a bigger 'bank balance' — go back up, start higher, and stay frozen the whole way down. If a landing looks tight, shed speed with a quick release before the edge.

Practice the stop-and-go

The skill that separates beginners from pros is the stop-and-go: release to stop dead on a platform, then freeze again to creep or slide off exactly where you want. Levels 3 and 7 of our game are built entirely around this move. Master it early and the later portal and wind levels will feel natural.
