How to Survive Spikes: Every Hazard Explained
Everything sharp, shocking and spinning in one guide — and the calm, repeatable way past each of them.
Floor spikes: jump or die
Spikes on the ground can't be crossed by rolling — you must fly over them. That means building enough speed before a ramp, or getting height from a spring. If a spike pit keeps eating you, the answer is almost never 'more luck', it's 'more speed from further back'.
Spike arches and ceilings
Some levels hang spikes above your path in arches and rows. These punish bounces that are too high, not runs that are too fast. If a ceiling of spikes looms over a spring, enter the spring slowly so your arc stays low, or approach from an angle where the arch curves away from you.
Spike walls: the speed test
A vertical wall of spikes at the end of a runway is the game's way of saying 'not at full throttle, please'. Shed speed with a short release, then re-freeze and drop off the edge before the wall. Levels 3 and 7 of our game are built on exactly this test.
Spinning bars and moving gates
The late-game hazards move. Spinning spike bars sweep a circle on a fixed rhythm; ice gates slide open and closed. Both are timing puzzles: stop in solid form at a safe distance, watch one full cycle, and go when the pattern opens. Full speed, no hesitation — slow crossings die in the middle.
